Neither of the things in your first sentence are true. They won't make small talk unless you initiate and they'll let you stay until you're ready to go (unless you're at the restaurant for longer than two hours)

It's annoying as fuck. When I'm at a restaurant I'm there to be social with my friends/family/colleagues, not some 20 year old bimbo who I cannot care less about

Came with the bill before we asked anything. Then 10 minutes later literally tell us to leave because we were taking 'too long'. At a European restaurant this would never happen. You ask for the bill on your own accord and it's normal to stay after finishing your meal to make conversation.

That IS a massive tip. If they provide exceptional service they can expect a couple euros tip, but they got to deserve it. I'm not tipping anyone for just existing.

This is not very common in the US, unless it's a very popular establishment with lines forming in front of it. Most of the restaurants I used to frequent with my friends back in the US were fine with us staying as much as we wanted.

Naaaah. If it's a mid restaurant with mid prices 2 dollars per person is nothing really, and in luxury restaurants you usually get what you pay for, and it's sort of a "faux pas", as much as I hate it.

When I worked waitstaff, and kitchen roles waitresses would complain about "only" making 100 a day. Was common for female waitstaff to be tipped out $200 per 4-6 hour shift. This was in 2010. You've never worked in a restaurant before.

I used to be a waiter in u.s.a and here, I basically have to listen to their conversation when I arrive so I may know what they need, want or crave... I got a super tip when I was a waiter at an Argentinian steak house because I always carry mints on my apron ( I also carry perfume and wet towels to keep my face smooth ), and there was this little kid that he wanted some candies so I gave him my mints and the little fella was pretty happy and their parents impressed that I had what the kid wanted. Like, its just candy
