License Plate culture
Why does most of the world have a shit license plate culture? In the USA every state has unique plates, often there's a "default" plate but usually a choice of a few and then you can even donate to shit like the wildlife fund or the train heritage and get plates that have to do with that (like a steam engine or something).

I just don't get it. So many countries it's so boring. Like almost every country. It feels like only the USA, Canada, and sorta Mexico care. Every other country are boring and don't give a shit.

I just want to encourage you guys to write to your presidents, PMs, supreme leaders, kings, etc whoever you need to and PLEASE try to allow them to introduce a license plate culture. Boring numbers with a little flag in the corner is not a culture.

Because number plates should be boring. They should be extremely easy to read from as far away as possible for as long as possible without replacement. Their purpose is to uniquely identify cars. If you want customisation, do it to your car. Bumper stickers are a cheap and easy way to do this. Number plates should not be fun.

I Live in a communist nation; however I often see the cool plates from the USA, the last free country on Earth and imagine where they're plates have been and how cool it would be to be American as I walk to the methadone clinic from my public housing apartment.

They have such cool variety, I always like the plates farthest away from where I am, Ohio seems to have the most variety

Wait until you learn about American state highway signage. Federal highways are all standardized but state highways have their own number markings for each state

States have the right to issue their own plates. How are they an ad? They are meant to represent the state when you're in another state how is that a problem?

Bumper stickers are retarded. License plates are cool. Every state has the authority to issue, not the federal gov't. It's a great symbol of federalism.

It's a symbol that the state issues licenses, not the federal gov. Every country in the world has a system of vehicle registration. At least ours has pretty pictures and it makes it fun to try to get as many states/ provinces / territories as you can on. a road trip.

they are considered a legal document here on par with passport and such. they shouldnt be changed or have different colors, fiddled with, copied, if you do so yourself you get charged with document fraud and thats kinda serious. same with the vin/title of a car and thats again tied to its license plate.
for some reason in usa documents seems to mean shit, indians get trucking licenses thrown at them for free and american citizens get thrown out just because ICE felt like it. its total anarchy.

Doesn't Norway have cool mountains in their passports? They're still totally functional, right? So why can't you have pretty license plates that still perform their function as vehicle ID

Utah has the ugliest plate now, the one on the bottom, which is a shame because the previous one on top was kino
Anonymous United States No.213979067
>>213978210
Utah has an option of multiple plates. One on the top is still a default plate (I literally just got my Utah plate last week and choose the Arch one). You have three choices (Arch, In god we trust, or the skiier)

its part of its anti fraud system, since everyone look the same its easy to pic out deviations. your system where no one looks the same you have no clue.

Except everybody does look the same. The license plates are a few options per state. How is it bad to have art on a passport but not a license plate. What special security features do EU license plates have?
Anonymous Norway No.213979710 >>213979956
>>213979377
well the most important one everyone can check them and see their valid, what year, color, make of car and its vin. they are also only issued in pairs, you loose one (or both) they render both the old ones illegal and give you two new. there is only one maker off them, of a very specific design and material that you wont find, just as an passport. so go ahead, fake a regisration here.

no, because then i cant at a glance see the numbers, some of pic related is barely readable. are they even machine readable?
its a pathetic part of american "culture" and "identity" in that you inherently have none, not even on a personal level so you have to go out and purchase it.

Yes they're machine readable most of our tolls are electronic and automatic via machine reading of plates.

I don't get why you think machines can only read a single style of plates.

>America has no culture
That makes no sense. You're being autistic. I could say "Norway has no culture because you have pretty mountains on your passport instead of it having bare security features" same with your money. But clearly you can both have pretty pictures and security features.

You're taking it a bit seriously...

to answer your other question, plates follow the car here so if i go somewhere else to buy a car i dont want "sami666" with lots of reindeers in the background or "kebab3ter" with an oslo skyline on my plates.

Here the federal gov't has no authority to issue plates

But your federal gov't could make fun license plates for norway as a whole and then it would be fun if you're in Albania and they see it
