Korea and Japan seem identical
Is there any meaningful difference other than Japan being older?

Japan is very collectivist and their economics quite socialist.
Korea is individualistic and fell very hard for the capitalism meme.

The reason they look similar is probably because South Korea is desperately trying to pretend to be Japan in order to promote its own country. The 2002 FIFA World Cup was originally scheduled to be held in Japan alone, but for some reason, due to political considerations, it was co-hosted with South Korea. From there, South Korea's economic development began, thanks to the successful promotion of its status as a country similar to Japan.

Korean media also very often thematises class inequality whereas in Japanese media its almost never a topic

From my point of view they're the same, except Korean is an extremely ugly spoken language like chinese, and also ugly when written. Meanwhile Japanese doesnt sound ugly. That being said they're all little yellow monkeys, so its apples and oranges really.

Japan has released their latest study showing Japanese are descendants from Korea.

They aren't very different after all for this reason.

That and they stopped eating meat once they became Buddhist. Ancient Japanese were noted to hunt deer and boar instead of farming rice.

And what's funny is that Taekwon V is a knockoff of Mazinger Z. Japan has a fucking rich treasure trove of giant robots like the original Gundam, Mazinger, Giant Robo, all those robots in Super Sentai, Evangelion, RahXephon, Getter, Danguard Ace, Getter, etc.

Up until the 2000s, Korean products were seen as inferior and many Korean products tried to pass themselves as Japanese. Chinese are now doing this too. Japanese products in the 1980's and 1990's cemented themselves as quality so the Koreans and now Chinese wanted to take advantage of it to gain a competitive edge.

Yeah the Japanese got much of their culture from China and Korea. So what? Everybody borrows from one another. My ancestors were originally Germanic pagans, but eventually they became civilized thanks to the Franks and the Dutch became some of the preeminent maritime traders and explorers. Modern stock markets and joint-stock companies owe much to Dutch capitalism.

Never understood this autism between Asians about "muh ancestors were civilized before yours".

Ah my bad. I knew it was one of them.

You see I'd take Koreans seriously if they didn't crib from Japan. Just make your own thing without borrowing from someone else. But they know that a lot of people like Japanese aesthetics so they and the Chinese are quick to emulate.

Your point? Everybody copied. Japan was seen as a joke pre-1980s.

Now they're incredibly creative as fuck. You can't deny how they truly can be innovative. Even in fiction.

No, I'm not a weab. I hate thinking Japan = OMG!

But I recognize quality when I see it. I don't care where it's from so long as it's good and I don't mind consuming it.

korea is act effeminate, kpop, cuck for women, have feminism, cries over finger pinching emoticon, work too hard, women marry foreign men

Easy for us to say when we're literally a country founded by a 'melting pot' of cultures.
But in Asia there is a unique dynamic going on. You have the CCP using past cultural and historic ties to claim other countries histories and culture as their own. Many see this as them laying the groundwork for future claims on these countries similar to their claim on Taiwan. Mongolia with Genghis Khan amongst other things, Korea with the North East project, and Southern Japan with the Okinawa historical tributary of China. That and these guys have weak a military thus they need softpower as much as they can get where as we just have sheer firepower.

I don't understand this. If South Korean culture is considered more feminine, why do non-Korean women (especially white girls) flock to SK and marry Korean dudes? Meanwhile SK guys are usually taller and more buff than J guys?

Meanwhile, you're right that Japan is very macho in culture so no shit you have foreign dudes wanting to go there and hook up with J-girls who are much more traditional and feminine compared to Western women. But you don't see as many non-Asian women marry J-dudes though there seems to be quite a bit of attractive white girls that love vlogging their life in Japan.
