I will try to speak the language to a T and learn about its history. I will watch both old and new national movies and shows and read at least one book made by a local once a year.

Leftist tend to be communist and communist can't get over the fact that the USSR collapsed, and that it was an authoritarian oppressive shithole, so they generally dislike countries West of Russia who they think are the REAL reason why communism didnt work. Noam Chomsky is a good example of that, he's would always be the first public "intellectual" to criticize any conflict the US was involved in, but made excuses for what Soviets did in Hungary in '56 or Czechoslovakia in '68

And no, I'm not irish-american at all nor am I an American fan of them, but if we talk about them we're obsessed, if we don't, we're disregarding and ignoring that poor sad pitiful nation :( . Not to mention how they blame 99% of their problems - the biggest being the near-extinction of the irish language - on the British, despite most of it being from post independence and completely on themselves.
I know we can't leave them alone and I'm sorry for that, but they also can't seem to leave us alone either. They hate when 'Irish'-Americans celebrate anything, but when they don't then their anti-American sentiments towards the rest of us skyrocket
