yeah, i had similar thoughts about that
Poles live in their own bubble and we know nothing about Russian popculture, even though it's objectively better than ours solely because of its size (there is statistically more good content) but well, lack of linguistic community doesn't allow us to know about it so we are just not interested and also managed to make ourselves believe that "if we don't consume Russian culture then it means it must be shit" which objectively doesn't need to be true but who cares, we believe that and that gives us a sense of superiority.
but I have no doubt about it - if we spoke Russian at least to the degree we speak English here, we would consume Russian popculture like crazy and in this sense would be probably also more exposed to Russian political influence.
Really, you DON'T want to learn Russian, it's like a drug, at first you only see the positive side but the negative consequences come later to destroy you and you cannot get rid of that easily.
