Because weed is legal in my state now. You can buy weed any place where you can buy smokes and weed candy has always been a way to get around federal drug laws. Americans have been making weed cookies and edibles before we've rolled joints. The biggest weed businesses in my area (cookies I think) are all edibles delivery.
