Tbh, if you look at the number of athletes they are sending it's not *that* surprising that they aren't winning any medals.
Just as an example, in 2024 they sent 5 athletes and Finland sent 56.

Because they obviously don't care about it. The Olympics are a western event. The only countries who aren't in that sphere and are still highly competitive have been communist countries due to the Cold War background context.
It's a little like the US being the best at gridiron football. Nobody in Europe for example gives a fuck about being the best quarterback.

It's also pointless to compare because all the teams have South Asians on them.
