how much is that in kg? can't be fucked. there should be some sort of effort internationally to ignore american units, not counting height in feet or dick size in inches etc.

Not normal. It's more common in higher incomes though. No McDonald's minimum wage earner here is having a gym membership with his $50/month salary.

Depends on what you mean by "hit the gym." A lot of people go to the gym but don't do anything besides walk on the treadmill or ride the exercise bike at a moderate pace and the fraction that do take it seriously are insufferable and make it the cornerstone of their entire life.
