On the continent, most women concentrate in cities because there is not much work for them in the countryside (look at the pink specks concentrated around major cities). Typical jobs in the countryside are farming/construction/handywork so it's much easier for men to stay in their hometowns. If you're frail and incapable of manual labor you will easily end up in a city somewhere doing office work.
