I don't get the international appeal og the gta franchise
They are the most generic games of all time
Not to mention you just drive from A to B for like 80% of the game

I guess the appeal was from open world sandboxes being the niche and not the norm a few years back. Rockstar does atleast go steps above other devs and theyre easy games to slide into if you come back from work and just want to do fun stunt jumps or shoot niggers to relax

GTA5 is still popular only because of GTA5 online, to the point when Rockstar cancelled a story dlc for an online expansion.

engrossing stories with the exception of V which is probably the one you're playing. the only open world games where following a beeline to the end is more fun than exploration.
