I literally just had my second shower today. I’ve never heard people say Brazilians smell bad. It’s actually the other way around, we say Europeans don’t shower enough. We also tend to change clothes daily.

Lots of Brazilians are brown and/or poor, but Brazilians in general are not smelly at all, quite the opposite. This is literally just a racist "brown = smelly" mentality. Made up and unfounded.

They're still favelas and still not the average place in Brazil either way (favelas are ~11% of Brazil).

Lol. How fast does your clothes become old if you have to wash it after wearing it once? I change my t-shirts once in a week and I can wear my hoodies and jeans for like 3 months without washing them.

I don't know, but basically 99% of Brazil wears clothes only once before washing them.

He's right, though. Washing clothes ruins them, and if you don't get them smelly, you don't need to wash them.

True, rocinha is a bit more densely packed and has better infrastructure on it's main (driveable) streets than many regular brazilian slums but architecture-wise the usual slum isnt different. The only kinds of slum that are considerably bellow average are palafitas (pic rel) and those homeless camps made of trashbags and plywood, but these are a minority even among slum dwellers

We don’t usually wear the same clothes at home and outside. The clothes I wear at home get washed after every use until they’re worn out and become rags. Clothes for going out are only worn on specific occasions, so I wash them only after some use. It’s like a suit, you only wear it when needed. I have clothes for staying home, clothes for the supermarket, clothes for church, and so on. Each set is kept for its purpose. When they get old, torn, or stained, they turn into home clothes.
