The requirement that men must be taller than women is a bizarre thing.

Every other factor in a man is a slider: wealth, how handsome you are, etc. For example, you may not be as wealthy as a girl would like, but she will consider other factors if they are good enough. It's forgivable.

Meanwhile, height is a yes/no question: if you're shorter than the girl more than an inch, it's a hard no. You will need at least 50 million dollars to bypass this rule.

Why did evolution biologically wire women to value height so much? Does it really help that much for men in hunting and fighting? Does it really? I'd say muscles are far more reliable factors in predicting physical advantages.

Reproduction for females costs far more (at least in pre-industrial times where we evolved) than it does for males, so nature has made them far more selective and picky to favor the very best (>90% male) genes, and sexual dimorphism is nature's way of showcasing how good your genes are in terms of offspring health and ability to compete with others (fight/kill other males) to get resources for the mother and your children. And no the specific numbers that define what the "best" is aren't fixed. The proof is that in Japan for example 180cm is seen as tall and hot, but in Holland it's 200cm that's seen as tall and therefore hot. As our populations' average heights continue to increase the female numbers will just climb because it's always been about being better than other men; not any numbers set in stone.

Well yes because having a 120IQ probably didn't count for much when some nigger chimp tried to bash your head in with a rock because he was hungry and you had food, or when the tribe went out to chase a deer to exhaustion. I imagine strength and height for power and reach with weapons respectively were probably more important in those scenarios. If you're dead from starvation or violence you wouldn't be able to reproduce anymore while the chimp could and did reproduce.

Obviously for long-term considerations like not running out of food in the winter intelligence was very important which is why it was also selected for, but physical attractiveness is still more important.
