Police have arrested 100 people before Notting Hill Carnival - as locals shut up shop ahead of the annual street festival.

The Met said 21 people were recalled to prison, and 11 firearms and more than 40 knives seized in a bid to target those who 'pose the greatest risk' of causing trouble.

Officers added that 266 people either have police bail or probation licence conditions not to attend the carnival this weekend.

The concept of "shadow work" in Psychology comes from Jung, who was big into occultism and occult symbolism, but essentially the idea is:

People have thoughts, feelings, impulses, that they are taught are unacceptable. They are denied permission to experience their own emerging experiences, and so, learn to deny themselves permission to have or identify with those experiences. As this goes on people more and more stop identifying with the parts of themselves that they reject. Over time, this (ostensibly) functionaly creates a whole other self composed of those parts of you that you have crushed down and denied- your "shadow self".

"Shadow work" is about reincorporating/reintegrating the parts of yourself that you've denied permission to exist within yourself. Parts Work, by any other name. Peoples' lust, or rage, or fear, or sexuality, or sentimentality can end up here as people demonize themselves for what they do or don't experience, and shadow work focuses on helping them find acceptance for those parts of themselves. Reincorporating the rejected parts helps bring them back into a sort of voluntary alignment with the person's desired behaviors/presentation, IIRC.
