The PS1 always felt more kinda warmer to me like with the graphics and the sound and design compared to more modern systems and games. Like the PS2 for instance kinda emulates that feeling with some games, but the system and some games just feel colder compared to the PS1. Just me?

well for one the ps2 was blue and black, had a those tech menus and more electronic sounding startup sound.

the ps1 was grey, had a colored logo and a warmer startup sound

as far as graphics goes, the need to stylize more lead to more pleasurable results in many cases, such as FFIX compared to FFX or FFXII, which in my opinion while still looking nice, due to their 3d background and higher fidelity characters aged worse in the long run than the toon characters and pre rendered backgrounds of FFIX.
Though it really heavily depend on the specific games

Oh yeah I forgot that the PS2 is usually black. I have one of the few silver ones at home. But I agree that toony games age better. I just realised that again, after playing XIII on the PS2 again, which was basically a game in comic style. The graphics are stil pretty good for todays standards. Not competitive, but still pretty presentable. And the game is still preferable compared to the catastrophic remastered edition they released a few years ago. The one time I make a pre order, because "It's a rather unknown game, so the people who work on it will do it with passion and it won't be a money grab." and it ends up in a pile of shit. Well lesson learned.

what is the benefit of spending money? do you unlock new characters or get hats or outfits for your characters? sorry I've never played genshin but that seems like a lot for one game.

You mean peak stagnation. Only another huge breakthrough like VR with omni directional walking could save gaming from this magnet tar pit trap. The haptic feedback suits can come later.

You buy new characters, outfits, weapons, items, and can level up your existing characters if you get multiple draws of the same character. This is mostly though lootboxes though, so lots of repetitions

I make about $400k per year and don't do anything with it (never had gf, no travel, I only have work clothes and then I go shirtless or wear an undershirt and the same gym shorts since middle school around the house)
My most valuable possession is easily my computer and I spend all my free time on Genshin directly or on YouTube - so why shouldn't I buy Genshin stuff to make my experience easier and buff my waifus

I don't find it depressing, it's just my life. I have a studio in NYC, so it's nice to get out of work, get some ramen or Chinese food, and then head home to unwind and play Genshin for a couple hours. It's especially nice to play that game in particular because I can answer calls for work without quitting the game until I head to bed.

I don't like to relive the trauma but essentially it was one of the popular girls who had it in her head that I liked her and forced me to go on dates with her and eventually one day she brought me to her house, made me drink alcohol, and then she forced herself on me
I cried the rest of the week and my parents wouldn't even let me stay home from school so I had to see her every single day
I haven't spoken to a girl romantically since

Yeah, its a very niche thing. I ended up buying a Mister after learning there was a guy working on Sega Saturn support which is nearly complete. I hate buying old hardware since you have to eventually learn how to service old consoles that are crapping out due to age.
