I have a female coworker who's hyperreligious, which was mildly shocking when I first knew her because I've never known a Hindu who is extremely devout. But what's so shocking to me (and I still cannot comprehend) is that she has a couple of statuettes of gods that she considers her "kids". She looks after them as one would a real child and "feeds" them. She even takes them on trips, which she does quite often. When I asked her about it, she said it's rather common and that some people even send their "kids" to school, make them take exam, etc. Can one of you kind sir throw some light on this and help me understand?

Indus valley, mauryan empire, gupta period, delhi sultanate and mughal, british, independence and stuff. This was for me as but it all has changed now with more in depth knowledge on history like vedic states, satavahanas, cholas, marathas (who were very important during 1700-1800s) etc and less on mughals as they never really whole of India
