That is not nationalism. That is something, when reasonable, is innocuous and pretty, but when steeped in hubris, in superbia and degradation is even worse than nationalism psy-op.

That is rural mentality, province-alism for a lack of better word in English (to my knowledge; pardon me). If you want to see an example of such a thing catastrophically blowing up after rural culture was propped up, see Ukraine.

That said I doubt Italy has much to worry about it. There are actual problems. You know which ones.

most part of italian are just like OP, if they see their country doing something good they will deny it till death just this diffused xenophilia. they just like other countries because they don't know it, they just grew up with everybody telling them x or y county is better but they have zero knowledge of the million of different peoblems normal people complain about in their country, they never spoke with a foreign in their entire life. they just say "every other country works but this one"
