Is "How are you?" a common greeting in your country?
I just saw a video where a British woman moved overseas and was shocked when she greeted someone with "How are you?" and the other person started going on about his day instead of the usual "Fine and you?".

No. You would only ever say “wie geht’s?” to your acquaintances IN GERMANY and only if you actually want to take the conversation into that direction.

It commonly goes here
>How are you (wie geht's)
>Good and you (gut und dir)
>Also good (auch gut)

In the UK, you say "how are you/how's it going/you alright?" and the other person always responds with "yeah, and you?" and the first person with "yeah, not bad". Even autists understand this, but somehow foreigners who have been living here for 10 years don't.

Europeans cannot fathom this greeting. They are under the impression that all of American culture is fake because we use "how's it going" as a greeting. Completely autistic continent.

Ye
I don't mind people opening up but what's worse is people who get defensive and scared of asking how are you

I think in here it's kind of an actual question, but it's common for people to say "just fine" and "it's ok" as a response because we are autistic. Like, inviting the other person to tell about their day if they want to.

Yep. When I board the bus I hit the driver with a "heymatehowareya" and keep on walking without waiting for an answer because it's a greeting not a question

We say 'hayagarn' and all the immigrants think it's so cool. The Australian accent is unique among nations. I don't get why poms say 'awright?' it sounds silly

Life in the UK is so bad that we have to constantly ask each other if we're alright.
