the south deserves its reputation IMO. mostly it's the septic tank of america. Mississippi is objectively the worst state in the nation on basically every single metric you want to use. A few cities are cool -- Atlanta, Charleston, uhhh Raleigh, Nashville, some others -- but for the most part it's horrible. Sweaty, filled with literal retards, dumbfuck politicians, fat but spiritually scrawny people. Beautiful nature though.

some of it is. houston and austin are better than you'd expect but they're so damn spread out. the whole "we're TEXANS we're DIFFERENT" culture is mostly larping but it's a little real. everything genuinely is bigger in texas, the saying's just true. hot as shit though. east texas is bayou-type places, swamps, forests, green, and west texas is desert and grassland. the desert parts of west texas are strange places to live in. dusty all the fucking time. hot all the fucking time. always bright. always still. when sound comes it comes roaring. poverty, old white people sitting on porches, mexicans mowing grass and unloading trucks. pretty, though. the desert rocks at sunset are gorgeous. sometimes when it finally rains bright flowers pop up in the desert. the land around the rivers is lean and lush simultaneously, finely muscled. mostly sucks. but generally speaking in the places where most of the people are it's cool.

Yeah I've always figured it'd be pretty cool to be a gas station employee in some cozy North Carolina town.

the deserts are lame. not uniform and exotic like arizona or NM. it's gay chapparal same as californias """"DESERTS"""
there is a mountain line that, once you pass, it's muggy with poor quality air. smells like shit all the time and the people are annoying to deal with
