They should have checkouts now, but it took them 2 years or so.
Snacks and sweets are alright.

When getting fruits or vegetables in a normal finland-tier grocery store you weight them yourself and stick on the printed sticker that gets scanned on checkout, be it a normal one or self-checkout. Lidl never did this as they weight them at the checkout instead. And Lidl's self checkouts don't have that functionality.
Lidl is the very odd one in many aspects.

Anonymous Latvia No.214136401 >>214136538 >>214136754

This is how our Lidl(and most other store) self-checkouts look.
You have very sensitive scale where you put the stuff you have scanned.
For baked stuff you open up the catalog, select which stuff you picked, how much and put it in.
For most veggies you do the same, I think.
Some stores also have weights integrated in the scanning panel and you can weight shit there before putting in the basket.
Anonymous Romania No.214136481 >>214136754
>>214136262
We don't do that anymore here, only in old stores.
They just weigh them directly at the register or self-checkout.

only certain store size rimis, theres irc 3 (i dont know if they got rid of the mini concept totally) levels of rimi here. smallest ones might not even have a self checkout
but i will give them a point for not being as shit as prisma
Anonymous Latvia No.214137010 >>214137189

You still have Prisma?
They exited our market decade ago.
Not a lot of people + 2 stores had construction related issues and had to be closed for repairs did them in.

The big 3 are Rimi, Maxima and Lidl here. There are smaller chains, more popular out in the sticks.
Rimi I guess is the highest "quality" of the 3, but they got bought by some Danish goons who may cheapen it up hard, we will see.
The closest Selver is probably the one in Valga.
We have Sky and 1 Stockmann store that present themselves as richfag stores, but with the prices everything is now who even knows anymore.
Pringles becoming cheaper than normal chips was crazy.

The couple Kauflands I walked into had an actual sociopathic layout where there a shelf wall splitting the whole store in half across its lenght with the only way to the other side being at the opossite end from the entrance, meaning anytime you entered you were automatically forced to walk the whole store's lenght before even getting a CHANCE to head for the exit
