Sweden is sometimes not a very smart country. Offentlighetsprincipen maybe (but lets be honest it didn't really ever make sense.....) made sense pre-internet. But it doesn't make any sense today. Sweden has some good law and some really stupid and sick laws. For example: Did you know that cp was legal in Sweden in the 70s? Sick and disgusting. But thankfully laws change and I'm sure that offentlighetsprincipen will be very(!) nerfed in the future. Offentlighetsprincipen is under attack in Sweden because of GDPR. And also because of all the crime due to the kravlösa mass immigration and failed integration (but that's a different topic).
But, BIG NEWS!! A vägledande court case recently gave a big blow to offentlighetsprincipen:

You can use google translate to read it if you want, but I will explain it to you:
Basically, there are two main laws about this in Sweden:
1) 21 kap. 7 § in Offentlighets- och sekretesslag (2009:400) (OSL), which basically says: "you have to follow GDPR when it comes to personuppgifter".
This makes sense, EU förordningar are lex superior in Sweden because Sweden is a member of the EU.
2) 1 kap. 7 § in Lag (2018:218) med kompletterande bestämmelser till EU:s dataskyddsförordning (dataskyddslagen), which basically says: "achtually you don't have to follow the GDPR because in sveeijrjej we have le offentlighetsprincipen and le freedom of speech (unless it's speech we don't like, e.g. HMF)".
Obviously dataskyddslagen 1 kap. 7 § is pure bullshit and that's what HD in Sweden basically said: "look, dataskyddslagen 1 kap. 7 § is bullshit because it violates GDPR which is lex superior so go fuck yourself dataskyddslagen 1 kap. 7 § and yes OSL 21 kap. 7 § is correct.
This is a BIG SWEDISH WIN. And I predict that the wins will keep coming.
