Disagree, 4chan culture spread to the rest of the internet. I see semi-gore regularly on Instagram when I just use it for like 5 minutes before snapping out of it. Twitter is overtly racist. Facebook is a rabbit hole of any kind of schizophrenia, Nazism, etc. We didn't grow out of it, the rest of the internet grew out of the culture we got used to as kids. I for one look forward to the contrarian culture of 4chan embracing wholesome civility in the near future. The rest of society is replete with vicious animals now who openly display rage as its been normalized.

4chan culture spread out and became the "cool edgy". In Facebook, Twitter, etc you'll see that takes straight-up lifted from here have become normalized and are no longer satanized (even in Facebook you'll find groups where memeing about literal CP is normal).
