Our current problem is the financial system. Ordinary people have no mean to get the currency they can spend with except by exchanging their labor. We can already have a very high output, but we somehow can't purchase what we can produce, just like how China's current overproduction struggles to be absorbed by the market.

Work is an essential part of being human. It's the realisation of the will, the achievement of one's desires etc. The goal of communism is not to abolish work but to make it enjoyable.
