Serbs have been buckbroken enough by the herzergs that if they heard their old language they would call it Bulgarian. Kajkavian is still not there yet but the number of Slovenes and Serbs on the internet who call it Slovenian is increasing by the year. They wouldn't dare if Kajkavian was still spoken by more Croats than Slovenian is spoken by Slovene like it was in the past.

Stokavian is spoken in Slavonia and Dubrovnik. When you say 'Bosnian' it sounds as if we have taken the language from another country, not that there are Croats living in that country who speak that language. Stokavian was accepted as the standard language because of Dubrovnik literature and because it was spoken by the largest number of Croats. All this has nothing to do with Bosnia. 'Bosnians' (Muslims) and Serbs speak Croatian, not the other way around.

During most of its time before the Ottomans, medieval Croatia was over 95% Chakavian or Kajkavian speaking. East Slavonia (spoke old štokavian which is now gone) was under Hungary while the west part in Croatia was Kajkavian, and Dubrovnik was its own state. Even north-west Bosnia spoke Chakavian.
Modern Štokavian is a transitional language between Croats and Serbs originally used by Herzegovinians. It had a lot of eastern Orthodox features even before it became part-turkish, for example Croatia is the only Catholic Slavic country where we say (in štokavian) the eastern Orthodox "Isus" instead of "Jesus" and its variants. Meanwhile Kajkavians and some Chakavians still use words similar to "Jesus". Štokavian along with eastern culture came to Croatia during Ottoman migrations.
>Bosniaks and Serbs speak Croatian
This is an insane statement. Because of people like you we deserve to be grouped with Serbs and Bosnians.

A lot of those words that sound Slovenian/ Kajkavian are also found in Dalmatian Chakavian too but those dialects are going extinct fast. Now they just speak the standard with ikavica, an accent and some italian loans.
Although some North Chakavian dialects around Matulji closer to the border start using weird Slovenian words like "ortočić" instead of "dete" - west of Rječina Chakavian uses ekavica which makes it sound more like Kajkavian and Slovene.

Fucking idiot, medieval Bosnia is a Croatian state. Period. Are you able to understand that? So, Stokavian was spoken by Croats from Slavonia, Herzegovina, Dubrovnik and Bosnia. Also, in the beginning we were all Stokavians and the dialects developed here, from the 14th or 15th century. Vuk Karadzic literally copied all Croatian dictionaries and then called that language 'Serbian'. Muslims are Islamized Croats and Serbs, they can't have their own language.

Batice, nisu to priznali nikakvi lingvisti nego neka nevladina organizacija u americi ti 'prizna' da si jezik ako platis neke pare.
Postoji hrvatski i postoje ta 3 dijalekta. Kraj price.

Still kind of weird that a single ethnic group speaks 3 different languages.
From the outside it would seem that Slavonians (Kajkavian), Dalmatians(Chakavian, Old Medieval Croatia) and Bosnians (with all the Ottoman era migrations) are 3 different ethnic groups that are now under the umbrella term Croats.
Not even saying this with malice. Germans and Italians have that too and they have large united nations (for the most part), but the overlapping with Serbs is a problem.
Why shouldn't Serbs count as Croats if Bosnians do? where do you draw the line? Why are other Croatian languages marginalized if they are also Croatian and not foreign?

>Why shouldn't Serbs count as Croats if Bosnians do?
There was a gradual split between Croatian and Serbian nationalists in the 19th century. After this, Croatian nationalists want nothing to do with the Serbs, while Serbian nationalists generally believe Croats and Bosniaks are Serbs in denial.
Prior to the split, the most prominent Croatian nationalist, Ante Starčević, believed Serbs and Bosniaks are Croats in denial.

It takes the Dubrovnik area as standard Croatian, which some people (me) will find offensive, but that's the point.
Light green is the standard, orange is the italianized Croatian, and red is probably what the OP is advocating should have been the standard Croatian (and he is right).
