In certain Slavic countries selected PC video games (HOMM, Gothic, Fallout, etc) became very popular in the late '90s and early '00s because some newspapers and magazines offered an additional video game for a very low price with the newspaper/magazine itself. And consoles were not popular there by then since building a Pentium III PC was quite cheap in comparison.
