I was just thinking about this, my rent for a 5-bedroom house in Aachen still a close walk to the center was €1300
My rent for a one bedroom apartment and a 20 minute drive from downtown Portland is $2000 a month not including the utilities and internet

East-Germany JA JA JA SEHR GUT. Dresden is the best spot. Leipzig is in trend now. you can still get a single room apartment for 400€ there... i live in Chemnitz. You can literally live for free here. There are 20qm2 apartments in commie blocks for for free, you only pay 150€ for heating and water, that´s it , you dont need to pay rent.
