That's a good question and it's probably just social media spreading it amongst women. I think Christianity and organised religions are seen as restrictive and not pro-women so they avoid those and look to tarot, crystals, and others as it allows them to dabble in mystic things but not be tied down to any rules or morals. It's interesting that the younger generations are more spiritual than previous, I've known people who have converted to Christianity, but New Age mysticism is definitely popular amongst young women.

Because they're disillusioned with institutions that seem to only exist to enact rules and be corrupt, but they're still drawn to God. What they fail to realize is that Christianity is inherently a very mystical and "out there" religion, just as much if not moreso than eastern spirituality. Christianity has unfortunately been watered down so much in vain attempts to appeal to the public that the "magic" seems gone from the religion in the eyes of the public.
