I honestly don't blame them, annoying as it is.
The cards charge the store per transaction.
The way card companies are able to prevent stores from passing that charge to customers should be illegal.
It's bad for competition and the market, but nobody is doing anything about it.

Idiot.
Unlike paying with cash, paying with card always costs a transaction fee. The shop has to pay it, and you pay it via inflated prices. If you use you stupid card to buy 1 lollypop for 89 cents, then the shop loses money over the transaction fee that you caused.

Never happened to me in chains, supermarkets etc. only small businesses do it and it's their own choice to keep prices low
