Do Italy, Germany, Spain have cities with French name near their boarders with France ?

Because it is the case here, when you go to the North East you will cities with German names, Spanish or Italian to the south near the boarder

France has historically pushed its border into non-french ethnicities, I doubt this happens elsewhere outside maybe a couple larping cities in Saarland, Aosta and Luxembourg (Not counting Wallonia)

The Aosta valley in Italy was historically french speaking.

I guess that's the reason why Central Powers wanted to bribe Italy with Nice and Savoy to join them in WW1
but for some reason Italians chose the bare rocks of the eastern Adriatic coast inhabited by non-Italian population (they eventually lost anyway)
literally how can a country fuck up that much

The Nice area was occitan speaking, not italian

bro, many "Italian" dialects on the edge of their country are less similar to standard Italian than Occitan is, that's not a big deal for them, Italianness is very inclusive and acceptive of diversity, in contrary to Frenchness.

Sure but I meant the thread was about town names, so its not likely to have italian names for town in areas that were not italian speaking

>italian names
the thing is that what is "Italian" is largely a matter of politics. If that land was under Italian occupation, then their local dialect would be considered a part of the Italian continuum.

and you got istria but you wanted the whole dalmatian coast
also let's not pretend Istria+Tirol could make up for Savoy+Nice, probably Nice+Monaco alone had GDP like half of Italy in 1914
