You used to have higher murder rates when your country didn't cook the statistics. In any case here we just dont have to enter favelas to not get killed, in Mexico cartels already control whole cities and can win against the government in battle to release criminals. We dont have this level of dysfunctionality yet
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Culiac%C3%A1n
>higher GDP per capita
American nearshore companies propping up your numbers but in reality the actual people earn less:

Holy fuck why's your continent so dangerous i live in a shithole and we have a 1.33 homicides per 100K rate. Have you guys considered implementing a clan-based violence system like ours? It might discourage people from randomly killing each other if they knew that an entire clan would come after them to get revenge

Crime is low in your country not because of le hecking based clans and their blood feuds, it's because you live in an authoritarian military dictatorship and your country isn't an important route for highly addictive synthetic drugs like cocaine or opioids. We have high muder rates because criminals are killing each other for control of drug trade routes

Bla bla bla if it works it works. There's nothing stopping you from having an authoritarian military dictatorship too and I'd personally consider it if crime's that bad in your cunt. As for the clan part the n1 biggest reason why I'd think twice before killing someone I don't like is because i know that if i do that their clan will probably find me and kill me in return, maybe that's just because i was born and raised in the south where tha'r (ุซุฃุฑ) honor killings are still very prevalent though.

Clan violence is literally the same shit as gang violence but more stupid. These criminals here are killing each other in an endless cycle of gang warfare. Their gang is like their family, they are super loyal to their group, just like a clan but earning money on top of it. This logic doesn't prevent perpetuation of violence as any literate person who has heard about honor killings and blood feuds should know.
We can't have another dictatorship here for a lot of reasons but the easiest way to explain is that we have had a longer history as a country with coups so the current constitution was framed to make a very resilient government. Brazil is also too complex as a society compared to Egypt or say El Salvador, this is why long authoritarian periods were never possible here, eventually there are just too many important social forces, middle classes, and business interests to keep controlled. We are too complex for authocracies
