Liking someone more than another doesn't mean you're better for her than he will be. If anything, most relationships that start off with both parties madly in love tend to fizzle out pretty quick whereas when two partners gradually come to appreciate one another it creates a bond that lasts.

It's very true even if you'd think the opposite would be. The initial rush of obsession over someone else isn't actually stable ground to build a long-term life with anyone. Both parties will end up inventing reasons they no longer feel the same eventually because nothing will beat the initial high of the honeymoon phase. Couples that start out slower don't have that same issue to the same extent.

This isn't exclusive to relationships that start off obsessive, this is just a symptom of exiting the honeymoon phase where the relationship stabilizes and the couple either adapt and find comfort in their partner or don't and fizzle out as they find out they're not really compatible. Every relationship goes through this. I agree somewhat especially with the initial obsession and not building solid foundation, but the agreements ends there. People aren't always as cut and dry as you're making it out to seem.
