Evangelical Christianity is tied to economic status here. The vast majority of them are very poor and believe that being poor is a curse from God. They also believe in witchcraft, the evil eye and things like that. Evangelical pastors charge them 10% of their monthly earnings and if they don't pay, they go to court about it and also tell the people that they're gonna go to hell if they don't pay.

Catholic Christianity is still the religion of the upper class and white population, for the most part, but Christianity in general is slowing here.

Brazil is an exceptional case among Catholic countries because Catholicism has never established itself at a deeper structural level here as it has in, for example, the Hispanic community of nations. The only exception might be the northeastern region.
