We have a lot of towns

Not just the towns themselves, but the very streets. In America, it is very common to name streets after presidents, especially the earlier presidents. It's really just a coordinate, like abc or 123. IIRC "Second Street" is the most common street name in the United States. "First Street" isn't used as frequently, and is sometimes replaced with "Front Street" or similar.
