what's the reason for all these big companies changing their 50 year old logos to some minimalist slop?
if anything you'd want to hold on to that traditional view of the company, and not change it for something that screams planned obsolescence?

Because a restaurant like this would probably go bankrupt when the boomers start dying. Happens to stores and restaurants here all the time

Publicity probably.
Announce clearly unpopular idea then announce you aren't doing that when the backlash starts and you've received all the attention of outrage marketing with none of the lingering resentment.

The entire point of cracker barrel is "old timey country restaurant with a warm fireplace, decent/affordable old fashioned food, attached to a quaint country store where you can buy snacks, clothes and knick-knacks". The entire marketing angle of the store is nostalgia and it always has been. I'm not joking - nostalgia for Grandma's house out in the country is the WHOLE thing. For some dumb leftist cunt to come in and sterilize the entire thing is an obvious attack on what is perceived to be a conservative-adjacent brand. You'd have to be braindead to be American and not see it.
