Can someone explain america?
Why is someone who is living in a rundown shack in Mississippi twice as rich as someone living in an apartment in Istanbul?

Per capita is a bad way of measuring average wealth
UAE is crazy rich per capita but 90% of the population are jeet slaves
The super wealthy push averages up a lot
Maybe look at median wealth

i looked at the numbers one time and it's not like i studied it in depth but it seemed to me like this was mostly a meme and propaganda
like for example california paid 15% of the national income taxes and represents about 12 percent of the population
which is positive it's not massive
in comparison alabama is .78% of the population and .74% of federal income taxes

Do you think thatβs all of Mississippi? Millions of people live in Mississippi in pretty comfortable suburbs and small towns. What do you think gdp per capita measures? The median person in Mississippi probably has twice as many amenities. The capital of a city with like 20 million people has better skyscrapers than a state of 3 million? Wow never would have thought.

Living in a shack in America means you have civil rights, labor rights so that you earn $5000 a month from flipping burger at McDonalds
Istanbul has no civil right, labor right that's why flipping burger there only cost $200 month

California is 39 million people Alabama is 5 million people and Mississippi is 3 million so even a small amount of transferred cash can make a big difference.

All GDP does is measure transactions, it's a piss poor way to try to measure a modern economy. It was useful in earlier times when all there was, was pre-industrialized agrarian economies and industrial manufacturing ones.
Now in modern digital world it's useless especially last few decades where Western countries include laughable shit like rents in the calculation. Rents being the polar opposite of productive activity.

A lot of middle america is unironically propped up by banking and pharmaceutical industries
The people make relatively little money working in manufacturing like forestry, farming, industrial plants, metalworking etc, they all have a line of credit on everything from education to cars to houses to vacations, they are on meds subsidized by the government and price gouged by insurance companies
Basically itβs all a huge game of cards with different middlemen in every step shuffling money around bloating the GDP
Only in states like California, Massachusetts, Washington, New York, etc is the true service sector output to productivity matched. Basically all other american states are predated upon by blood sucking insurance and finance companies that get subsidized by the federal government

For decades now all the best and brightest people here have been gone into finance and law since that's where the highest paying jobs are in this country.
All the real advanced engineering and manufacturing is done in America's peripheral satrapies in Europe and East Asia. When the empire collapses America is going to be incredibly poor with very little in the way of real wealth to show for it's size and decades of imperial hegemony. At least the Soviets had robust infrastructure that could withstand immense abuse from neglect to fall back on it.

Good posts. Everything in America is also very expensive compared to Europe or Turkey. Housing is crazy in America, especially for the quality of the homes you get, and things like college, cars, and food is very expensive compared to places like Sweden. The dollar is also extremely strong, making it look like someone in America who earns $ 48 000 a year is making the average Swedish salary, but the real standard of living is much lower than that of an average Swede

Everything in america is extremely inflated on purpose, they manipulate numbers to make them go up. Look at the market capitalization of these car companies for example. Tesla is supposedly worth more than the top 10 most selling car brands combined yet tesla isn't even in the top 10 or top 20 of best selling cars
I wouldn't be surprised if everything in america is three times less valuable than what they claim it to be
