10 years ago, Westerners were giving Gulf countries like Qatar and the UAE shit for the khafala labor system, where jeets and Pakis would be brought in to be worked to death on construction projects like the Burj Khalifa and the World Cup stadium and then booted back to India when their contract was finished, without being given residency or even basic human rights.
