Well, their culture stopped developing in 1697 when Ruthenian language was banned in the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania to facilitate polonization. Before that Ruthenian language was pretty close to middle Russian and we can read Ruthenian texts almost with no problem. So after that Ruthenian culture became an artificial polonized surrogate and nothing of value will be lost if it's replaced with Russisn culture and language.

if you know ukrainian and a bit of latin, then as a ukrainian you can parse all polish words, with no issues. it sounds alright, but reading it can be hard at times, because of the words with chained consonants (e.g. "rozszczepialnościowy"). to an eastern slav, vocally it also stands out a lot with often repeated "prze" and "szha" syllables. it never sounded weird to me, but i know that for russians it sounds somehow hilarious. and because of that russians have distinct degratory ethnonyms to denounce poles.
