Unironically theres a lot of wisdom in the Talmud. There are some explanations of Bible passages that id never guess from just reading the Bible. The passage where the king Saul is ordered to kill children and animals is actually beautiful as fuck when you get that its a phylosophical story about our place in the planet, hypocrital wishes and the free will per se. Basically Saul could at least claim he was ordered to do it, but he could challenge God and not do it for the sake of his own morality. Instead he saved rich people and lucrative animals. So he lost all hints of morality. Its a Breaking Bad plot

The Old Testment never seemed interesting to me as it was just a bunch of stories about Hebrews, but seeing deeper explanations made me realize most are there as tales and not supposed to be an hystorical record. It makes me think how can i be a better and more honorable person. Except i still dont see why polytheism and idol worship is so bad. Anyway studying Judaism made me realize their religion is more interesting than Christianity because they can explain their theology and sacred texts just fine. The man-god story of Jesus is beautiful per se, but it totally contradicts the christian Old Testment.

Exactly these stories arent supposed to be read as hystorical events. In that one you mentioned, it wasnt 42 children mocking him for his baldness, but 42 young males accusing him of being a false prophet; being "bald" in that context, is one that doesnt wear that god cap. This story however doesnt impress me, its just about how much a person's live weighs more according to their qualities, and since this goes unto a very metaphysical context i dont got impressed much.
