Homeless people are dissappearing across America by the thousands and nobody knows what's happening to them. Entire tent cities are just suddenly empty, hundreds of hobos gone without a trace.

What is going on?

If the homeless, vagabonds, beggars and such were all taken and put into work camps would it really be bad for society? It would certainly get rid of a lot of petty crime and make cities less dangerous and more clean and after they have done a couple years of work in the camp and maybe learned a trade they might even be let out into the world again as reformed citizens

The USSR used to do that.
And it worked pretty well.
The junkies had enough money for drugs and they also were productive in mineral extraction.
Literally all those siberian mining towns were infested by them after the fall of the USSR they still stayed for a couple years but then left for the cities and became just normal vagrants sucking away at whatever welfare the state could scrounge for them.
