Everyone knew her case was lost long before verdict. Trying to garner sympathy from other politicians you've been insulting for 15 years because "the judges are trying to do politics, this is a deep concern for all of us" was never going to work and counting on public outcry influencing the judges was not a viable defense strategy.
She should have stepped down and let Bardella take the reins after the 2022 loss but instead she went all "fourth time's the charm, you'll see" .
Even when it was very, VERY clear she was going to lose her case and be inelligible, she still doubled down instead of preparing a transition of power in the party.
This should have been a nothingburger of a washed up serial loser no longer getting to hold her mayor seat forever while the party had already moved on.
But it wasn't.
And she has no one to blame but herself.
