Communism has been tried. It's just that people don't get that the "stateless, classless, moneyless society" part is the END stage of communism.
Marx said that you can't abolish the state and class right away, that after the revolution and before communism there's an in between stage called the "dictatorship of the proletariat" in which the communists expropriate and repress their class enemies.
The higher stage of communism can only happen (according to Marxism) whenever capitalism has been defeated globally so the state is rendered obsolete due to no longer having to deal with the internal or external risk of capitalist restoration.

It has been tried but only in backward countries such as Russia, China, Cuba etc and as such it was stuck in intermediary stages, not fully materializing into socialism but not capitalist either

Marx and Engels were really specific about how socialism can only happen in highly industrialized countries and then it would spread from there to the rest of the developing & underdeveloped world

This was not a subjective appreciation, it's the fact that in the industrialized nations, the middle classes (peasants, small manufacterers, tradesmens) have been swept away by all practical means and the main classes are the proletariat and the capitalists, thus the class conflict is sharper in these countries thus proletariat has a higher class consciousness

However, in backwards Russia, China and Cuba the proletariat was really a tiny minority, the majority of the country still handnt developed full capitalism, thus these revolutions were carried out not by the workers but by bureaucrat & military apparatus (in the case of china or cuba) or were carried by workers but latter usurped by bureaucrat (in the case of the ussr)

that's because communists don't know themselves how a communist society is supposed to function.

I think we should have a network of labor and death camps for millionaires, billionaires, landlords, kulaks, and gamers.
