What does he actually teach his kids? He's unemployed so he's not teaching them his trade, in fact he has no practical skills whatsoever, he has to hire handymen to maintain his homestead. He doesn't farm in any meaningful way other than tending to his hobby garden, so he's not teaching his kids to raise animals and work the land, they all eat store bought food, courtesy of his wife's welfare check. His kids see him loafing around all day, arguing with random people on social media and checking in his wife's welfare bux.
