I can kind of see where this originated. In Germany, the standard side dish for goulash is noodles (either Spätzle or Spiralnudeln). In contrast to other places where it is commonly served with various forms of potato or even without a side.

But cheese in goulash would be just considered weird here.

Um... Is it normal to just invite a homie over to your place and offer them a slef-cooked meal with wine?
