What does Finnish sound like?
Would you think that it is an Asian or an European language?
Anonymous Turkey No.214486230 >>214486338
it definitely doesn't sound like an asian language to me

I live in Haparanda so Finnish is basically intertwined with Swedish up here. I have no idea what it sounds like for strangers.

Reminds me a bit of Italian. Doesn't sound like Germanic or Slavic languages.

They mix well.
This is one of my favorite songs, one Finnish singer and one Italian. Both legends.

it sounds like mix of hungarian and japanese withouth pitch accent
Anonymous Brazil No.214486623
sounds low pitched and a bit monotone to me, I think because there's sometimes two of the same vowel in succession and apparently you're supposed to make the same sound but longer
I wouldn't say it's ugly though

example of the finnish language
Anonymous Sweden No.214486951
Doesn't sound European. Bit staccato like Japanese sometimes, but just sounds like Finnish really. Probably sounds more like a serious language than other Nordic languages.

When I watched Forsen's streams and a Finn was in voice chat, I thought they were doing a gimmick. I didn't realize you people talk like that all the time. Funniest sounding language ever.

Sounds like woodpeckers to me. Lots of "k"s and "t"s, like a bird tapping its beak against wood.

It doesn’t sound anything but Finnish, its own section of the corner of Western Siberia and Baltic region
