Japanese railway crossings have an additional signal that indicates the direction of the approaching train. This can help in situations where 2 trains pass from the opposing sides and drivers could be rushing to cross right after the first one. Do you have this in your country?

It's the two lit up arrows.
And the arrow shows the direction the train's travelling, not the direction you would look to see the approaching train. Could this be confusing?

most countries including mine don't mark that distinction between automatic and man-controlled.

when the signalling is faulty the train driver gets a signal to slow down and the workers should put up a stop sign to warn about the faulty signalling

do you have any crossing gate video on lines that have etcs l2 operating? i doubt this signaling would be compatible with those safety standards but then again i dont know much about these

we have a lot of incidents with the gates btw people just straight up ignore them. but i was curious and looked up the traffic rules (the ones you have to pass to get a drivers license) and it says if the crossing is not operating then it is mandatory to stop before crossing no matter what

idk if I can give an example of ETCS level 2 crossings because it's usually installed at lines over 160 km/h where there aren't any level crossings

160 km/h trains may be too much in that situation but even a 60 km/h train on a straight track is easy enough to notice and avoid that way. 15 km/h seems excessive

the real issue I believe to be the weak punishments.
I want the cameras at crossings to automatically give tickets who breaks the laws by crossing too early etc. I believe this is the only way things will change here

just a few a days ago I read the news that a truck driver who illegally went on red light, crashed a train and killed the driver just ended his one year sentence... not a year of any jail or prison, just one year ban on driving vehicles. it's so pathetic.
