Commieblocks aren't that ugly actually, they just need proper maintenance. Better than cardboard housing of UK or America.

It has nothing to do with being good, its about housing people. Same as food do poor people want their food to be beautiful and good looking? no they just want to eat.

Commieblocks under 6 flours are generally just better planned, they have trees, walkability, nearly infrastructure etc

>Commieblocks aren't that ugly actually, they just need proper maintenance.
Well maintained commieblocks look better than poorly maintained commieblocks but still much worse than detached houses (and also offer much lower quality of life) so still it doesn't really help.

Remember that on this site you don't really argue with ex-USSRs for whom it can be really about "whether our commieblocks are better than your commieblocks" but with westoids who are simply used to completely different standards. An average American anon has a bathroom bigger than your or my whole apartment. We, trying to convince him that "commieblocks aren't that bad", sound just ridiculous.

After the fall of communism right wing retards were decrying the state of architecture, because in their underdeveloped brains the commieblocks were le ugly.
And then the free market gave us capitalist blocks, which are commie blocks except poorer quality, no sewar system, cramped and they sell for a whole lot more.

Not really. It's not because they are ugly when getting dirty, but their shapes are just incredibly rough and not good for the eye. The Bauhaus came from here long before it was adapted in the eastern block. The architects back then thought that humans will adapt to this style eventually, but this isn't the case. Humans will feel better, if they like what they are looking at, similar to animals who like to life in their own habitat, like a forest and a nice river. It has psychological reasons.

Cardboard walls are easy to get damaged, accidentaly hitting it having kids at home good luck patching up holes on your caedboard.
0 sound barrier you can literally hear people speaking next room. Thats why so many americans have stories about hearing their moms getting fucked.
If you have even minor earthquakes those walls are shit.
Hard rain or snow roof collapses along with your walls.
Insulation: Retained heat well
Anonymous Poland No.214582846 [Report]
>>214582740
well, there are just different commieblocks
in some countries they had slanted roofs with red tiles (like in Slovenia) so they automatically feel much nicer than flat-roofed ones

>good luck patching up holes on your caedboard.
not a problem, you can fix it with paper, glue and epoxy resin

>0 sound barrier you can literally hear people speaking next room
that's not even true, also, it's your private house and there is only your family there, so it's not a big deal, unlike in commieblocks where you hear your neighbors having sex

>If you have even minor earthquakes those walls are shit.
maybe, we don't have this problem here

>Hard rain or snow roof collapses along with your walls.
i don't think it's a common phenomenon

Most people dont exactly want to have bigass housing though, many would rather go small than share a larger abode Over here there's not much options. It's like if you wanted a GPU and all you can buy is a 5090 even if all you want is a 5070ti at most. It's either 5090, buy a guys dusty ass 3080, or wait until someone in your family hands you down their GPU

no, you wouldn't
no real Canadian has ever uttered such words, only immigrants insist on "building smaller housing" aka "worsening living standards for everyone" because they can't afford what natives can (and are used to) also they don't mind that shittification of housing standards because that's what they had back home in their thirdieland.

Any old town looks better than this. It's not because of the trees. It's because of what humans perceive as comfy. Very oftenyl these rectangular very wide backyards and wide streets optimized fir car traffic are the exact opposite. That's why currently most city planners in Europe are going the old route.
Anonymous Poland No.214583154 [Report]
you must be insane to willingly ask for building smaller houses, it will literally mean that developers start building houses twice as small but still charge as much or even more than what they do now.

How is the Soviet climate any worse than Canadian or Midwestern American? Georgia is actually much warmer than most of the US, let alone Canada.
Yet afaik there wasn't any difference between commieblocks built in Batumi and in Norilsk, all of them were built according to the same project, in the same factory, with the same materials.

Different ideology resulting in different structure of inhabitants
(capitalist condos are heavily stratified, meanwhile in commieblocks people from all social and economic classes would live together)
Commieblocks are poorly made, lack proper finishing and totally ignore any kind of aesthetics, it's just blobs made of concrete panels

You also can do insulation with drywall. Also most of the major boots to insulation and temp regulation is getting good windows and properly sized A/C system.

Why not? That's what high living standards are about. 200 years ago working class would live in cramped cellars and they thought it's fine.
