The coastal areas are much richer than the inland.

South Korea is like a coastal province by geography and also by standard of living.

The main (and unreasonable, once you think about it) "fear" of Taiwanese is that they would become "poor" (Shenzhen and Guangzhou are richer than Taipeh already) so showing them that this is unreasonable to believe is a big step forward towards a peaceful reunification (i.e. without an Ukraine style war that would leave Taiwan in shambles while their ally across the Pacific laughs about it)

For a southern Italian it's easier to make a comfortable living by moving to a touristy small town on the sea than toove.to.southern Brazil and the same is also true in reverse.

In Hungary it takes two years to make a roundabout and we cannot keep railway lines operating at 120km/h on a straight plain. I probably would not want to live in China but I still respect what they have done to their country. I think Eastern Europe had large potential and we wasted it. Everything that happens here is utterly mediocre compared to what happened in China or before Japan. China could have easily become another India but they took a different path and I respect that. I think most of these conflicts online are entirely personal and as an Eastern European China has never done anything wrong against my country so far so I can appreciate their improvement.
