Danzig is a better name because its easier to pronouce for non slav-language speakers.

i will never understand German obsession over this small irrelevant town (besides Fahrenheit and Schopenhauer literally no famous person ever came from there) that wasn't part of Germany for most of history

at the same time we have cities like Breslau or Stettin that were far more important for German history and culture yet Germans barely ever care about them
