it's incredible to me that the middle east and north africa are full of ancient greek and roman towns and monuments that are completely neglected, when they're not being blown up, just because they decided that they don't like cultures other than islamic culture

The fuck are you talking about? Every Roman and Greek town/monument is well maintained using tax payers' money, I have never met anyone who's interested in destroyed some ancient structure just for kicks.
Our farmers are the only people in the world that still preserve the use of the Julian agricultural calendar.

Christians have also defaced a few Roman sculptures and monuments in ye elden times, and look at them now, possibly the very best at preserving history and the articles thereof.

You can't spend over a thousand years leaving these things to rot then suddenly pretend you care once someone else shows an interest and does the heavy work for you
