I talk with my mom on the phone everyday and visit her at least twice a week because she's always cooking tons of food and has like 10 boxes with leftovers for me to pick up.
Sometimes she just cooks or bakes because she feels like it and then calls me to come get it.
I help her do grocery shopping and cut her lawn/shovel her driveway as well.
A few months ago when she called me to ask what the cheapest possible tv she could buy was because her old one broke, I just went and got her a brand new 75" and mounted it on her wall for her. I'm getting us cruise tickets in the Bahamas for Christmas, she's always wanted to go.

I love my mum, but she is stupid and starting to suffer from early stage dementia (she's 70 now). Talking to her about anything that requires braincells is pure suffering, and helping her do anything online involving documents or ID makes me want to pull my hair out.
It actually makes me a little upset that I've never been able to talk to her about anything serious because she's just dumb. Not in a mean way, like genuinely 70 IQ or something.

Yes, she's always been dumb, but it's worse now that dementia is starting to creep in. She never learnt how to drive or use a computer, and she hasn't held a job since the 1980s (she kept getting fired and decided to give up in the end and become a full time housewise).
I don't really know how to properly explain it (maybe I inherited the dumb genes), but it's like whenever you ask her a question, she just decides to answer a different question that's vaguely related to what you're asking her. I handle all the banking and bills, but because it's all in her name, I sometimes need her documents or ID to change things or companies want to speak to her, so trying to keep her focused on something specific for any length of time makes me want to scream. What's worse is that she's actually genuinely a nice person and has lots of patience, so I feel awful whenever I get frustrated with her, but I literally can't help it. It's like I'm the child and she's the parent, and it's been this way ever since I was a teenager, maybe younger than that.
