Brazil never stoped being an extraction colony for a long time.
They had a use for Pedro I which was legitimacy alone, but did away with him shortly after.
And then Pedro II was also exiled, because he actually wanted to make a country out of Brazil.
Ever since then Brazil was in the hands of the same people that only wanted independence so that they could sell their extraction directly to buyers without passing through Portugal.
Nothing changed in Brazil post independence.
